The James Cumine Parkinson Letters

Letter 230

Iron Pot,
May 8th 1877
My dear Mother,

We were disappointed at not receiving a letter a letter from you this mail. Altho there were two newspapers and one Coleraine Constitutional in which I see George’ name. I also see that the accident to Micky Feyes wife has terminated fatally. I hope that by this time you will have pleasanter weather and that you will have or soon will receive the Box as the Lufia is 90 days out today.

Chris and two of the children have been up in town for a week but have returned. I send you the remainder of the lecture on Tasmania. I believe this will be in time the most prosperous of the colonies, as there are fresh tin mines openings and there is a steady influx of people. We expect Mrs Upton down soon to spend some time with us and Chris will be going up (D.V.) in August and leaving me all by myself for some weeks as it is the safest plan and the youngsters will have an opportunity of going to school, although I gave them a lesson each day when not engaged. I hope that you have got safely over the severe weather and next mail I shall hear that you are all well as we are all at present. Give my affect love to Sisters and Brothers, To Aunt E and remember me to Joe and Miss L et cetera and believe me,

Dear mother, ever your affect son, J.C Parkinson

I will send you Mr Babington’s Carte some of these days. Chris and children desire to send their love.
