The James Cumine Parkinson Letters

Letter 164

Hobar Town,
March 25th 1867
My dear Mother,

I received your kind letter and was glad to hear that you were all well. Dear Mother you say that you should like to hear all about the Low Cottage. I can assure you it is a very low one. I am very glad to say that that dear James is at home at present. He is trying to get something to do on shore. God grant that he may for it will be so comfortable for both of us. It is so hard to part with him for he is so kind that I feel quite lost when he goes away from me. Dear mother you wish to know about our household affairs. Our cottage contains three rooms. I have got …. garden. Now place to keep fowels. There is a small one in the front of the house but I hope that we shall not be long in this place for James does not like it. He thinks of going into business as soon as he can and hope the day is not far off.

Dear Mother I send you a likeness of my Mother and stepfather as we are not able to send one this mail but hope that by next you shall have it. I hope that you will like it. I will send my brothers also and my youngest sister. Please to thank Maria for the colerett she so kindly sent me and I shall think … much of it. It is so much admired among my friends so hope to be able to make her some small thing yet and hope to hear from Kate … … by dear sisters and brothers as I shall call them now. . I suppose dear James shall let you know all himself. You must excuse this as I am not very well today … must a few lines more. I must conclude and hope to have good news by next time.

I remain your,

Loving daughter Christina Parkinson.
