The James Cumine Parkinson Letters

Letter 155

City of Hobart 68?
My dear Mother,

I suppose Chris will answer your letters from Town but I thought I might as well let you know that I am well, as she was and Annie when I left. The times as yet very dull in Hobartown and I was thinking of shifting to this place as going to sea is not at all pleasant and there is so little to do in the winter. I hope God in his great goodness will direct us for the best. I am sorry to hear of the proposed disendowment of the Old Church but God will defend the right. Mr Graham is a most devout man and a fine preacher. I often go to hear him. He said he was glad to see my father’s son. Annie is getting on very well. I hope she will be spared to us. I hope you are all well and that Sam will make up for lost time. I have very little news of importance to tell you. All things are pretty quiet here now. Give my love to all at home and excuse this scribble and believe me your affect.

James C. Parkinson
