My dear Mother-in-law,

It is with mutch pleasure that I take up my pen to write yor a few lines hoping to find you in good health as this time are at present thanks be to the Lord for all his mercys towards us all. Dear Mother I hope that you will excuse the few lines for the first of wrighting to you. I hope by the time that you get this letter that you have received James letter and the last I sent you. I have just got a letter from James and he says he is quiet well and I may look out for him since Dear Mother it was very hard for us to part at first. But we will have to get yust to it. But I hope that something will turn up on shore for him yet but there is very little dooing here at present for anybody. Dear Mother I heard James say that he would like to have his father’s likeness. I think that it would give him so much pleasure to have it to look at. I sent you a paper. I hope that you got it. Must get James to get his likeness and mine taken one card and send you. I hope that you will excuse these few lines for the first time that I right to you. James will be at home by the next post so now I must closethis short letter this time and believe me your ever loving and affectionate daughter in law,
