The James Cumine Parkinson Letters

Letter 114

Rockhampton
Prairie
July 14th 1863
Dear Mother,

As the mail is about closing here I thought I would let you know that I am well, and that things are beginning to look a little brighter. This is a very thriving place but the heat in summer is intense. I did not like it the first time we came here but as I am a little better acquainted now I can judge better. I brought some fruit and other things with me from H.town and sold them for treble what I gave for them. I am thinking of coming here and settling but am not sure yet. Thank God I still continue steadfast and hope to remain so unto the end. I will expect to receive your second letter when I get back to town. Give my love to all and with best wishes for your temporal and spiritual welfare,

I remain yours,

J.C. Parkinson
