The James Cumine Parkinson Letters |
Letter 106Almora, On the line September 10th 1862 My dear Mother, A ship homeward bound is in sight and I take this opportunity of letting you know that I am well and very comfortable as this ship is a great deal better than a great many that sail out of L.pool. We have been detained both in the Channel and here by contrary winds but hope that we will have no more obstruction. We have service morning and evening on Sunday and the Captain seems a very good man. There is a cousin of the Muntzes on board a shoe maker from Downpatrick. I hope that you have not received any injury from the unpleasant time you had. I will write as soon as we land which I hope will be soon and I hope that from hence forth I will be enabled to lead a new life. I have got quite fat since and am in excellent health. Give my love to all and believe me Yours affect, James C. Parkinson |
