Dearest Mother,

I am safe on board and I think we will have a pleasant voyage as the ship appears to be a good one so do not fret, but try and keep up your spirits and I will do all I can to be enabled to come home and see you one more, when I hope we will have a little more pleasure than we had this time. I will write as soon as I arrive. Give my love to all and believe me yours ever effect son,
