The James Cumine Parkinson Letters

Letter 96

Akyab
November 12 th 1861
My dear Mother,

We arrived here safely from the Mauritius after calling at Point de Galle, and Rangoon where we are loading for home either Cork or Falmouth for orders, but I hope we shall go to Liverpool as it is so convenient. I hope to have enough at the end of this voyage to start again for the Colonies as I hear that times are better than they were, and I do not like this kind of life at all. My health has been very good since I wrote last, and the abscess in my stern is completely healed for which am very thankful. I intend to stop only a short time at home and be off for a few more years if God be so kind to spare me so long. I hope to be able to do something for you yet, in fact I feel assured that you will have no more cause of uneasiness on my account.

I have not much time to write now but will send you another letter before we go.

Give my love to all Sisters and Brothers and believe me ever your affect.

James C. Parkinson
