The James Cumine Parkinson Letters |
Letter 91December 11 1860 My dear, according to promise - I first write to say your son has come in this moment from his ship and well and cheerful he looks. After a warm shake of the hand and a kind word or two - he is gone upstairs to wash and dress - and I write you this line - then I must stir and get him something to eat. He says he thinks he will be discharged tomorrow - and will ship shortley for some other part. We have given him your note and parcel (per steamer). Of course he will soon write to you. There is not the slightest appearence of drink having passed his lips. No one knows I am writing this scrap - I do it to comfort you. Excuse haste. Joseph is much pleased with his pretty gift and I thank you, I am dear Mrs Parkinson, Yours in truth, E. Montgomery, |
