The James Cumine Parkinson Letters |
Letter 89Armagh Sept 8th, 1860 Dear James, I was speaking to two experienced farmers on the subject of your letter on Saturday last, they both agree that the land is good but £2 per acre would be quite enough for it, one of them said he would advise you to be very cautious about it as it requires a pretty large capital and should you not succeed in your expectations and be disposed to part with your stock in a few years after, you would loss considerably in them. Do you know anything about farming, or would you have to seek advice of your servants or others; if so I would have you take great care - Are you aware how much per acre is required to begin in farming. I you feel inclined to come and look at the farm I will go with you if you wish. Yours affect, E. Parkinson |
