The James Cumine Parkinson Letters |
Letter 69Mount Pleasant, Crumlin Road, Belfast. My dear James, ( 0 ) I hope when you receive this letter you will be quite well. We had rather a dull Halloween this year. Cholera has been in Belfast this Summer and it is not quite gone yet. We had a letter fom Miss Lascelles a few days ago and she mentioned that Willie Despard is going in the Marine Service. He has got a commission in it. We are just a month here today and are very well settled. Miss Ann Rogan of Killough is dead. Mr Bedford has gone to England to live. Sunday next will be George’s birthday. There are none of the Knox’s married yet.You will be glad to hear that Mrs Surch is as well as usual and we hope to see Joe next week. Lady Annesley’s son died at the war of cholera and she has gone out to nurse her other son who was wounded. I must now stop dear James. Hoping soon to hear from you or to see you, Ever your affectionate sister, F.J. Parkinson |
