The James Cumine Parkinson Letters

Letter 33

Ravensdale
April 10th 1851
Dear Grandma,

Mrs Knox sent me all the particulars about the Bank, and I think that taking all things into account it would not suit me.

A friend advised me to try and get into the Police which is a very nice situation and I would like it very much. £80 and horse kept the first year but it would take great interest such as Capt. Dixon of Down. Mr Fortescue’s brother being MP I am sure could get me into it but Dada does not make any effort for me I suppose because I did not do as he wished. Please tell Mr West that I will write to him soon. I think that I gave you a flask of pewter a long time ago. If you do not want it please send it to me by the cash as I want to make it a present. I had to pay for something that I got lately which took a good deal of my money which you sent me last and if you could send me a few shillings I shall try and not trouble you for good while again. Give my love to all and believe me your affect
