The James Cumine Parkinson Letters

Letter 25

(NOT CORRECTED)

Ravensdale,
November 18th 49

Dear Frances,

I send you a piece of the … off a marriage cake, which I got a present of some time ago as a small token of affection, as I have nothing more worth offering, except a sheet of notepaper which I think you shall like, and you may believe that I think a great deal of you but knew who gave it to me, they say tis not lucky to give away such things, but no matter.

We got all your kind presents safe, and are very much obliged for them. Give my love to Joe and Mrs Surch, Grandma, Aunt O and V?? and remember me to Sarah, and tell her not to run away with any body till I see her again. I hope that you shall have spent a happy birth-day and believe me yours affectionately.

Jas C. Parkinson.
