The James Cumine Parkinson Letters

Letter 4

College,
Dungannon,
September 25 45

My Dear Sir,

I received your kind letter with half notes for five guineas for which I feel most obliged. I am very sorry to find that the boys treated James so rudely but this will all be over in a few days. I am happy to say that I hear they like him very well an therefore I am sure the annoyances which new boys meet with at first will soon cease.

Having been taken away from home before he feels the change, I am sure, a good deal but you will find he will be very happy in a short time when he becomes acquainted with the boys and settles to his business - You may depend on my keeping a watchful eye on him and protecting him but it will be better that I should not .. any public notice of, and we should make light to himself of any complaint he may make and you will find that soon he will as happy as possible.

Mrs Darley unites in kind regards to Mrs Parkinson and yourself,

Believe me, My dear sir, Yours very sincerely,

John R. Darley
