The Lascelles Letters |
Letter 35Belfast
I write a line to inform you that I have sent an order to the Down branch of the Northern Bank for £46-7.8 in favour of Captain Binnie for rents, and renewals of my holdings under Lord Bangor in Killough, up to May 1st 1840 - it is very large sum and I believe it would have been more prudent to have given up the fields altogether but on your account I retain them. The rent of the strand fields is not included in the above, as Mr Cranston intends to get them surveyed, and will procure a person for that purpose in Down, and wishes you to get some one you can depend on to go along with him at the time, and point out exactly the ground. You are to ask Nelson whether he will be willing to pay the advances rent. I will write again when I can ascertain the time the survey is to be made, after which the additional rent will be known. Mr Bristow is much better, and Francis has gone to Glynn to see him. His leave of absence will expire about the first of January, and we hope then to have the pleasure of seeing you there. Id we had a second bed we should have been glad to have had you to meet him. Remember us kindly to all friends, I am my dear Lucy, affect yours, F.E. Lascelles |
