The Lascelles Letters

Letter 24

Glynn Cottage - Larne
December 26th 1839

My dear Lucy,

I found your letter her when I arrived on Saturday and have written to Mr Atkinson to inform him of the difference between your statement of the balance due and his, and to request him to have the account settled immediately that Mr Mayne may not be obliged to take proceedings - which he will not do until I hear again from you. I really did not anticipate that I should have any trouble with so respectable a person as Mr Atkinson and, of course, am very much annoyed with it. when I hear from you and that matters are arranged I will write you a long letter. Mrs Lascelles and Mrs Bristow are better and send their love.

Most affectly

F.E. Lascelles

P.S. I mentioned in my letter to Mr Atkinson that the only proper manner of settling with you was to produce your receipts.
