The Lascelles Letters

Letter 23

Belfast
13th December 1839

My dear Lucy,

I received a letter from Mr Atkinson today, and am dispassionate that he neither sent, or went to Mr Mayne my agent, who was in Clough on the 10th instant to settle with any tenants. He states his account with you is £4-3-10 due, in consequence of some little articles you got from him which, he informs one, he is ready to pay immediately. Please to take this letter over to Mr Atkinson, get the money, and give him a receipt. the reason I have for being this prompt is that Mr Mayne, who is a very particular person in business, might be sending a messenger, or putting him to expense which I should be sorry for. Write to me the moment this affair is adjusted - my address will be for some time Glynn Larne. We go there in a day or two, from thence I shall write to you. Miss Auchinleck will give you a message form me.

I am dear Lucy,

in haste yours affectly,

F.E. Lascelles
