The Lascelles Letters

Letter 15

Belfast, College Square East
26th January 1839

My dear Lucy

We arrived here on the 17th instant and have got a comfortable lodging at Mrs Wallace’s No 7 College Square East. We were very fortunate in the weather and I bore the fatigues of the long journey remarkably well. I have not, however, ventured out of doors except for half an hour one day. Mrs Lascelles is, thank God, very well. Mr and Mrs Hodder are gone to Newcastle on Tyne the place of their destination. Mrs Jardine has joined her Husband in Plymouth and Mr and Mrs Bristow and Sophy will leave Jersey in a month but where they are bound for I do not know. I cannot write a long letter but shall write again and send you an order on the Down bank for £5 when I am able to go out. Love to Mrs Johnston and family. Write to me all the news and we shall be glad to hear from you. Mrs Lascelles joins one in best regards, and believe me my dear Lucy,

affectly yours,

F.E. Lascelles
