The Nannie Cinnamon and Kate Trimble Letters |
Letter 63Ralph. F. Rogan Cincinnati October 6, 1914 Dear Miss Cumine, Your letter about Aunt Kate arrived during by absence on an extended vacation, and that is my only excuse for the long delay in replying. I thought I had notified all of Aunt Kate's friends of her death at the time but must have missed you, for which I am sorry. She had been failing very slowly for over a year, simply a growing weakness. She was in bed for about two weeks before her death, but as near as we could tell did not suffer at all except for weakness; and she was conscious up to the instant of her death. In fact, I was reading to her the evening before she died. My wife and I were with her for several days before the end, and of course before that my brother and I had made several trips to see her. Her end was very peaceful, for she was tired and glad to go. Yours very sincerely, Ralph F. Rogan |
