The Nannie Cinnamon and Kate Trimble Letters

Letter 52

Gambier, Knox Co. Ohio
July 20th 1900

My dear Francis,

This many a day I have threatened to send you a few lines "just" as a kind memento". The recipt of "the Post" and your mutuals have stirred me afresh to write. In vain I searched for something you wished me to see in the paper marked or otherwise. I cannot tell you how deeply I am touched by your memory of me in so many years. I remember your as a very young child and I should like to know something of your doings and environment. So if the reaches you and you are disposed to answer tell me a great deal about yourself.

For a long time I have not heard about Kate. She was then in Captain O'Farrells Co. Tyrone. Bessie has long ceased to write to me. Notwithstanding she is fondly remembered like all of you and I hope that she will write to me sometime. I remember you all so well and the unfailing kindness of your Father and Mother at all times. My brother Johnnie visits me in Spring. He was here with his wife in May. They came from a short visit to Ralph my nephew who resides in Glendale. He is to be married in the fall to a lovely young girl of 22. He is 25 not a dissident voice in either side. We are all very happy over the match. In intend to join my brother and sister in Chicago and accompany them to the wedding. Roger is now with Mr Proctor's family spending his vacation at Watch Hill Rhode Island. I live quite alone. How often I have wished some of you lived near me. Proctor is the family name of Ralph's fiancee. His father is quite public spirited and a public benefactor. He has presented a handsome library to Cincinnati and a … one also.

We have had very hot weather, but no deaths like the large cities. I long for storms to clear the atmosphere ere it comes the heat is unbearable. One nigh a sheet is too heavy for covering in bed and the next a pair of blankets is comfortable.

Will you kindly give my love to Bessie, Kate and Maria. My warm regards to George and Samuel. Have any of James' children come to England.

How terrible these wars are. The whole world is in revolt is seems. Write to me soon if you can. I a my dear Frances your affectionate.

Kate Trimble.

My address is as above only add America.
