Letter 10
Beginning of letter missing.
…but with Mr and Mrs Trench and shall remain till the 1st of May. They have got an exceedingly nice governess in my place, a German. I shall be very sorry leaving. Mr Trench made me more than once several very kind offers to remain - told me so long as I would remain they would keep me and I should never want as long as he had a sovereign. I never had a parent or brother so kind to me. Indeed his and Mrs Trenche's cordial and affectionate manner brought me often to tears and made me feel unworthy and ungrateful. To God I owe all I possess. I had some charming letters from America. I saw John Cinnamon's sister when she was here spending the honey moon. She is married to a Church of England clergyman. They took me to a concert and we had a pleasant party after of four or five. I fear I shall not be able to see you and to say good bye but you will write to me I hope before I start on my journey and after I reach America. The season is very favourable. I do not fear for myself and trust my poor father and mother will not suffer by it. Good bye my dear Miss Lascelles and believe me to remain your very affectionate Kate Rogan
